Recycling Kick Off

On Wednesday, Jan. 7th Chandler’s School had their kick off assembly for Recycling. Students were presented with information about why recycling is important and why we should be playing an active roll in securing our future. The Can Man was also present on this day to encourage students to recycle and entertained us with his can dance.

We also had a contest to "Name the Bin." Bluegrass Recycling has made a bin behind the school. Mrs. Pryor's homeroom wins the contest and $100. The bin will be called, "The Bear's Bin."

Chandler’s is now going to be taking the following items “only” for recycling:
  • aluminum cans

  • old cell phones

  • inkjet & laser printer cartridges

  • plastic water bottles or clean plastic bottles

  • newspapers & clean paper products

Bins for these items will be located in the school entrance area. The Bear's Bin is located behind the school and accepts aluminum cans and clean paper products. You may drop items off at the Bear's Bin anytime after school if you wish. All the rest of the items must be dropped off inside the school.

One of our eighth graders, Anne Partlow, created the following movie to encourage everyone to recycle.

If you have any questions please call Mrs. Winchester at 542-4139. We appreciate all efforts to help us with this initiative. Thank you!
