Pull Tab Deadline

We are approaching a deadline for collecting coke tabs to benefit Ronald McDonald House. Please turn in your coke tabs by Wednesday, November 10th. This will give us time to weigh our tabs and turn in our tab total to the Nashville Ronald McDonald House.

We are one of 106 schools participating in the contest to give students a chance to win lunch from McDonalds and a free ice cream cone.

Please continue to keep saving the tabs even though the deadline is approaching. We will begin on November 11th to start saving for next year! Thank you for all your help!

Box Tops

The PTO would like to thank everyone who has supported the Box Tops program. As a result of the efforts of the parents and students, Box Tops will be sending the PTO $768.00. That is such a great turnout for this program.

Please continue to save these. We will have one more submission to Box Tops in February.

Save Your Coke Tabs

We continue to collect coke tabs. Beginning this week we are entering a Pull Tab Challenge with the Ronald McDonald House of Nashville. The school with the most Pull Tabs per student will receive a free McDonald's lunch for all our students and a coupon for a free ice cream cone.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Nashville has a mission to "keep families close" during the critical illness of a child. In Nashville they have a 32 bedroom home for families to stay in and a family room inside of Vanderbilt's Children's Hospital. The pull tabs that are collected help to fund this home.

We know that many of our families have used the Ronald McDonald House during times of illness and have reported how great a blessing it was. We are excited to help out with this need.

Please save your tabs, ask your family to save tabs, and bring them to school. We will be collecting for this challenge through November.

Fundraising Ends August 25th

The school-wide fundraiser ends on August 25th. Please have your order forms and money returned to homeroom teachers by that day.

We are so appreciative of every one's support. This money will be used to fund field trips and and provide classroom activities and supplies.

If you have questions, feel free to call. When we know of the delivery date we will let you know to be expecting the orders.

The School Year is in Full Swing

We are off to a great school year! Thanks for your help in making it so great. There is so much happening already so please keep your eye on the Parents page of the school website for the school calendar.

Also you can visit the Athletics page for all the up-to-date sports schedules. Right now we have students participating in Cross Country, Volleyball, Softball, and Soccer.

The school-wide fundraiser kicked off to a successful start. If you haven't heard we are "lucky ducks" to have such great students! Students who returned their mailer booklets received their first duck today. After the first item is sold the students can receive another duck. If you would like to shop online to help out our school go to www.gafundraising.com and enter the school code: 971556. Students with online sales can receive a third duck. We will start "feeding the ducks" on Monday with Silly Bands. Be sure to wear your duck until the fundraiser ends on August 25th.

This year our Bears of the Month program will focus on citizenship. The school mission is for every student to become a life long learner and a responsible citizen in their community. For the next few weeks we will talk with students about the qualities it takes to fulfil the school mission during Morning Meeting. The first quality of the Bears of the Month for August is leadership.

Please let us know if we can help you or your child or answer in questions.

Schools to Watch

If you haven’t heard the great news, Chandler’s School was selected as a 2010 School to Watch. Our middle school teachers and students are very proud to receive this honor. Schools across the nation that are designated a School to Watch are academically excellent, are sensitive to adolescent needs, they have highly qualified teachers and have resources they need to support learning. We hope you will join us on April 14th at 9:30am for the official presentation of the award by the Kentucky Commissioner of Education. We will have more details to follow soon. If you are interested in knowing more about Schools to Watch you can visit http://www.schoolstowatch.org/.

Preschool Screenings and Transitions

There will be a preschool transition meeting at LCHS at 6pm March 11. There will also be screenings held on March 19th and 26th by appointment only. You will need to schedule these appointments through the Logan County Central Office. Contact Jane Wilkins at 726-2436. The table reveals the fine craft of building an edible car. Mrs. Jenkins and Mrs. Cunningham teach students the finer aspects of the double dutch, and Henry's look pretty much sums up the fun had by all this past Tuesday night!
