Coach Mary Taylor Cowles and Dream Big

WKU's Women's basketball coach, Mary Taylor Cowles, visited Chandler's on November 18th with a message about following your dreams.

It was an honor for our school to be chosen to participate in SOKY Bookfest event with Coach Mary Taylor Cowles. All of our students in grades 2 - 5 were given a book and season tickets to all of this year's Lady Topper basketball games. Students in grades 2 - 8 were given tickets for themselves and 5 guests to attend Logan County nights at WKU on November 28 (WKU vs. Duke) and December 20 (WKU vs. Ball State.)

While Coach Cowles was here, WBKO also came to film her visit and explain the purpose behind promoting the book Dream Big. To watch the WBKO video, click on the link http://www.wku.edu/news/index.html

Red Ribbon Week Activities

On Wednesday, Oct. 29th Chandler’s 8th graders participated in a hands on simulation for Red Ribbon Week. The students were asked to wear vision impairment goggles, which simulate the experience of being impaired by alcohol and performing physical activities.

Kentucky State Trooper Eric Evans was present to assist with the students and talk with them about he law and the dangers of drinking. The students had fun while learning an important lesson about drinking and being impaired.

Yearbook Sales Begin

Yearbook Sales begin on Friday. Please look for your child to bring home an order form on Friday. (It will be on a half slip of purple paper.)

Thank you to all the families, businesses, and members of our community who have purchased ads for the yearbook or sponsored a page!

Due to the response of our supporters, the cost of each yearbook is only $10.00. If you want to add a name plate to the front of the yearbook, that is an additional $5.00. We will run sales through the end of the month. Remember it is best to pre-order because we do not have many extras in the spring.

BMX Show

The BMX Bike Show was held last Thursday. The students really enjoyed the stunts he performed on his bike. We've included a clip of one of his stunts and the stunt where he jumps over Mrs. Brown, Mrs. Cunningham, and Ms. Porter.

Mr. Wilhelm emphasized with the students to "Never Give Up!" He shared how hard work and dedication to something you enjoy doing really pays off. He shared that he went to college because he knew he could not ride bikes forever.

He also shared a drug-free message with students to say, "No!" and walk away from situations where drugs are present.
