Coaches vs. Cancer

This year the Logan County Middle Schools invite you to be a part of a new tradition. The schools will jointly host “Coaches vs. Cancer” during the Logan County Boy’s and Girl’s Middle School Basketball Tournament ,held at Logan County High School during February 5, 7, and 9. A big thank you goes out to Cates Cabinets for sponsoring the Chandler’s teams.

“Coaches vs. Cancer” is a nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches. The initiative leverages the personal experiences, community leadership, and professional excellence of basketball coaches nationwide to increase cancer awareness and promote healthy living through year-round awareness efforts, fundraising activities, and advocacy programs. “Coaches vs. Cancer” provides critical mission outreach, while raising funds in support of the Society's lifesaving cancer research, education, advocacy, and community service efforts.

Because cancer has touched so many of our nation's basketball coaches, players, teams, families, etc. “Coaches vs. Cancer” offers a unique opportunity to fight the disease. Through integrated fundraising activities, coaches and students are truly making a difference in the fight against cancer and are raising awareness in their communities about the importance of cancer prevention, early detection, and making healthy lifestyle choices.

For more information on how you can become a sponsor or to learn how to host a “Coaches vs. Cancer” event at your school, contact your local American Cancer Society Office at (270) 745-1966 and speak with Tammy Tinsley, Health Initiatives.
