Upcoming Events

Here are so events that are just a few days away, please make plans for these.




  • April 30th: Hat Parade for Cancer and Family Fun Night (PTSO officer election to be held as well)

  • May 1st: Jump Rope for Heart money due

  • May 4th-15th: CATS testing

  • May 5th and 6th: Preschool Parent Conferences

  • May 5th: Kindergarten Transition Meeting

  • May 12: SBDM, 4pm; PTSO 5:3opm (officer and parent SBDM elections)

  • May 18th-22nd: Half Price Book Fair

  • May 22nd: Cheer Tryouts (must have a sports physical to tryout)

  • May 28th: Awards Day (see google calendar for specific grades and times)

  • May 29th: Last Day of School and Graduation

Family Fun Night

Remember our Family Fun Night is this Thursday night from 5-7pm. Reservations for the meal have already been accepted and finalized. If you did not get a dinner reservation, come out for great activities for all age groups. K-5 will have reading and math activities, the Library will be offering "Siestas" and teaching about Cinco de Mayo. The middle school students can participate in some really fun engineering activities! We hope you can come out and be a part!

CATS Testing to Begin

The CATS assessment will be administered to students in the 3rd-8th grade beginning Monday, May 4th and ending on Friday, May 15th. We will not be testing everyday during these two weeks, however please ensure that your child will be here everyday. Attendance is very imiportant during this period of time. If you MUST schedule appointsments, please try to make them for the afternoons. Testing will begin promptly at 8:15 each morning.



Tips to Help Your Child Do Their Best:


  • Make sure your child gets plenty of sleep

  • Encourage your child to eat a healthy breakfast before learning for school or have your child eat at school.

  • Talk to your child about the test each night and encourage them to do their best.

If you have access to the Internet, you may want to checkout the Kentucky Department of Eduation home page at http://www.kde.state.ky.us/ This site has sample questions from previous years that you might want to view. (None of the items are on this year's tests.)

Archery Fundraiser

Jason Brown sends his thanks to all those who helped make the archery fundraiser so successful. They were able to raise over $3,400 to help the archery team with travel and new equipment. Great family and community support help to make our programs successful! Thanks.

Hat Parade to Fight Cancer

The American Cancer Society is holding a “Hat Parade to Fight Cancer” on Thursday April 30th, during Kentucky’s Derby Week.


The hat symbolizes survivorship and the hope of preventing, detecting and finding cures for the cancer into action by making cancer a national priority.


To participate in this event you create a derby hat and pay $ 1.00 to wear your hat to school. Prizes will be given out to the top 3 students who have the most creative hat and a pizza party for the homeroom that has the most students to participate in this event. All money raised will go to the American Cancer Society.

Free Health Fair and Screening

There will be a FREE Health Fair and Screening on Saturday, April 18th from 9:00am – 12 Noon at the Oak Grove Church. There will also be refreshments & door prizes. Everything is FREE.
Here are some of the screenings that will be available:
  • Colon Cancer Screening
  • Derma scan Screening of the face for skin cancer
  • Glucose Testing
  • Blood Pressure Checks
  • Senior Citizens will have a booth for information on their program
  • New Drug & Prescription Information
  • Grip Strength Testing
  • Body Mass Testing
  • Diet & Exercise information & much more

Family Fun Night Dinner Reservations

Many of you have signed up to eat with us during Family Fun Night. Please send those RSVP's by Wednesday at the latest. We have extended this deadline to April 15th if you plan to attend. After the 15th we will be sending home tickets you will need to bring to eat that night.

April "Pools" Day

On Saturday, April 18th, the Carpenter's Aquatic Center will be hosting April "Pools" Day. There are numerous free activities.
8-9am Free Discover Scuba Diving
9-10am Free Water Safety
10-11am Free Water Rescue Safety
11-12pm Free Opening Your Pool with Trembley's Pools and Spa
1-3pm FREE SWIM (hosted by Trembley's Pools and Spas.
